JOB SUMMARY
This classification is responsible for leading other lifeguards in the performance of lifeguarding duties at the Town swimming pool. Duties and responsibilities include informing patrons of pool rules and regulations, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to emergency situations, and administering CPR and first aid. Reports to Fitness Facility Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1) year of experience in lifeguarding.
• Must have High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess current and valid lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
• Must be able to complete AED training within 30 days of accepting employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Informs patrons and staff of the rules and regulations to be observed in and around the pool areas and enforces such rules and regulations to minimize or eliminate hazardous situations.
• Observes lifeguards and reports any problems to supervisor.
• Observes users in their pool activities and responds quickly to all emergency situations in the water assisting anyone in distress or rescuing anyone in drowning situations.
• Administers CPR and first aid until qualified medical personnel arrives.
• Cleans and maintains locker rooms, pool deck, and restrooms.
• Performs general house keeping duties such as taking out trash and cleaning food areas.
• Performs routine chemical checks on water.
• Works closely with supervisor on scheduling and day-to-day pool operations.
• Backwashes, brushes, skims, and cleans pools.
• Any other duties assigned from supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides coverage in absence of other personnel.
• Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Report any accidents immediately to Supervisor or Manager.
• Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Supervisor or Manager.
• Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on customer’s perception of Town Facility.
• Promotes the teamwork environment. Assist co-workers when necessary.
