Thank
you for visiting the Smyrna Fire Department web site! I hope that the
information that has been provided will help you become familiar with our
department. We are constantly striving to become a greater service to the
citizens of the Town of Smyrna.
In the fall of 2000, our newest fire station, Fire Station #5, was completed and
opened for service. Fire Station #5 is located at 2200 Rock Springs Road.
Station #5 services an area that was in great need of a fire station. We are
quite proud of the Town’s commitment to increased fire protection and look
forward to the growth of our town and fire department in the new millennium.
The Town of Smyrna received a Public Protection Classification ( PPC ) Survey
from the Insurance Service Offices ( ISO ) on November 13-14, 2001. The purpose
of this survey was to analyze the Town’s fire suppression delivery system. As a
result of this survey, the Town of Smyrna will now have a Public Protection
Classification of three ( 3 ), effective June 01, 2002. The Town’s former
classification was a five / nine ( 5 / 9 ) which was the result of a survey
conducted in 1991.
This is a great accomplishment for the Town of Smyrna and its residents. The
Insurance Service Offices advised in their letter of response to the Town that
“your community’s fire suppression services are improving in the face of the
demands of a changing environment”.
I am proud of the effort of our employees as well as the goals that we have set
to achieve. Feel free to contact the department or myself with any questions you
may have. We welcome and encourage you to visit us at any time.
Thank you,
William Culbertson
