JOB SUMMARY
This classification is responsible for performing lifeguarding duties at the
City swimming pool. Duties and responsibilities include informing patrons of
pool rules and regulations, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to
emergency situations, and administering CPR and first aid. Reports to Fitness
Facility Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
● Must possess a current and valid lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
● Must be at least 16 years of age.
● Must be able to complete AED training within 30 days of beginning employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific

Informs patrons of the rules and regulations to be observed in and around the
pool and enforces such rules and regulations to minimize or eliminate hazardous
situations.
Observes users in their pool activities and responds quickly to all emergency
situations in the water assisting anyone in distress or rescuing anyone in
drowning situations.
Administers emergency CPR and first aid until qualified medical personnel
arrives.
Cleans and maintains locker rooms, pool deck and rest rooms.
Brushes pool / skims pool.
Performs general housekeeping duties such as taking out trash and cleaning
food areas.
Performs routine chemical checks on water.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide coverage in absence of other personnel. Provides coverage in absence
of other personnel.
Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Report
any accidents immediately to Supervisor or Manager.
Correctly wears appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment
to the Supervisor or Manager.
Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively
on customers perception of Town Facility.
Promotes the teamwork environment. Assist co-workers when necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
