The
Smyrna Police Records Department uses one of the most sophisticated
computer system records entry systems available. The software is
integrated with the telecommunications system allowing access to the most
current information in the system. This allows for cross checks for active
warrants, stolen property, or other pertinent information concerning the
individual or situation during the record entry process.

Our Records Division is certified with
TIBRS, the Tennessee Incident Base
Reporting System, and with TIES, the Tennessee Information Enforcement
System in cooperation with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
During
the year 2007, based on a population of approximately 33,123 the Records
Division processed the following reports:
CRASH ANALYSIS REPORTS Over 1480
ARREST REPORTS Over 5400
CITATIONS Over 11,000
WARRANTS Over 4050
INCIDENT REPORTS Over 9900
The Records Department
currently has 6 full time employees. During heavy volume records entry
periods, part time employees assist with data entry.
