Judge Lynn Alexander

Judge Alexander_2018_webIn 2006, the Smyrna Town Court transitioned from a part-time municipal court to a full time court with both municipal and general sessions’ jurisdiction.  In September 2014, Judge Lynn Alexander took office as presiding judge

Judge Lynn Alexander received her B.A. degree in English from Middle Tennessee State University and her JD from the Nashville School of Law.  She was licensed to practice law in 1988.  
Judge Alexander began her career as a state employee with the Tennessee General Assembly while attending law school.

In 2001, she was appointed as an Administrative Judge by the Secretary of State where she remained until August 2014.  On August 8, 2014, she was elected to serve as Municipal/General Sessions Judge for the Town of Smyrna.

Judge Alexander is a member of the faculty of the Nashville School of Law where she is an instructor in Administrative Law. She is member of the Rutherford-Cannon County Bar Association, The Andrew Jackson Inns of Court and the Smyrna Lions Club. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Middle Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women, the Snyder Foundation and the Rutherford County Library System. She was recently appointed to serve on the Private Probation Services Council. Judge Alexander is also an adult literacy tutor for the Rutherford County Read to Succeed Program.
Married to Neil Alexander, together they have a son, Joshua and a daughter, Tori and her husband Tony. Four members of her family are proud graduates of MTSU, the fifth the University of Tennessee!
