Building Official

Kristi Worrell joined the Town of Smyrna in 2022 and became the Building Official for the Town of Smyrna in 2023.  Before joining Smyrna in 2022, Kristi was an inspector with Rutherford County Building Codes and Metro Nashville Building Codes.  Kristi is a member of Middle Tennessee Code Officials (where she has served as President, VP, and Secretary) and the Tennessee Building Officials Association.

Her responsibilities include the operations of the Building Codes Department and its mission to administer the provisions of the electrical, property standards, building, plumbing, mechanical, and gas codes.  These codes provide minimum standards to safeguard the public safety, health, and general welfare of the citizens of the Town of Smyrna.

The Building Codes Department reviews and issues permits within the Town and inspects all work performed in accordance with those permits.  The Department also maintains all records associated with those permits and inspections.  The Department also is responsible for property maintenance and housing codes and enforcement.

Kristi resides in Rutherford County with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children, and grandchildren, and attending Concord Community Church. She grew up in Tullahoma, TN and moved to Nashville where she met Tony.  They were married at Whispering Hills Church, now known as Concord Community Church, where they are current active members.   They have lived in Rutherford County since 1996.  They are also proud parents of two children, Victoria (John) and Amanda, and are thrilled grandparents to Bridger and Reagan.  They enjoy spending time with extensive family and friends in the Middle Tennessee area.
