Town Clerk


Amber Hobbs has called Smyrna home since grade school and is a proud graduate of Smyrna High School.  She holds a degree in Paralegal Studies and has successfully navigated a career in the legal field for more than twelve years, in both the private and public sector.  

Amber began her tenure with the Town of Smyrna in 2015 working in the Legal Department under the direction of Town Attorney, Jeffrey L. Peach. In 2021, Amber was appointed to the role of Town Clerk and Open Records Coordinator where she has the privilege of working closely with the Mayor, Town Council, and departmental leadership teams through the Town's Administration department.

The Town Clerk’s position and duties are set by the Town’s Charter and is the official record keeper for Town business through recording and maintaining the legislative body’s actions in the minutes, as well as coordinating agendas and maintaining contracts and agreements for the Town Council and various boards and committees. Additionally, Amber acts as the Town's Open Records Coordinator managing all public record requests pursuant to the Tennessee Public Records Act.

Amber is a Certified Municipal Clerk and Recorder through the State of Tennessee, and is an active member of the Tennessee Association of Municipal Clerks and Recorders (TAMCAR) and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).

Amber is honored to be a public servant to citizens of her hometown. She was humbled to be nominated by her peers and selected as one of VIP Murfreesboro Magazine’s 40 Under 40 in 2023. Amber is a proud mother to her adult daughter, Chloe.
